What a great place to start your island
lifestyle!
|
Russell Is is the largest of the
Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Just a 20 minute ferry ride from
Redland Bay, the island has become a magnet for those
looking for a relaxed island lifestyle, yet still within commuting distance
to Brisbane and the Gold
Coast.
The island
retains its undeveloped charm, with many metalled roads and extensive bush.
Houses dot the island, but you can be as close or as far away from others as
you want to be.
Recent
enhancements include a new shopping centre with a supermarket and a range of
speciality shops, new police station, and new swimming pool facilities. The
island also has a bowls club, RSL and community centre.
Contact
with the mainland at Redland
Bay is via passenger ferry (takes
20-30 minutes depending on the route) or by vehicular barge (a one-hour
trip). Services are very frequent, with the ferry running up to 40 times
a day during the week, and the barge up to 14 times a day. These vessels
do a circuit of Macleay, Lamb, Karragarra and Russell Islands through the picturesque waters of the
southern Moreton Bay area.

This 607 sq m site has been surveyed, with
all corner pegs in place.
In 2007 the soil percolation test and
Property Assessments were done and the Material Change of Use (MCU) was approved by the
Council. However these approvals lapsed after 4 years so you would have to obtain new approvals
for whatever home you wanted to build.
Preliminary plans have been done for a 3
bedroom home, and these are available to the purchaser. Or you can design your own home to
suit.
The block is cleared apart from 3 trees on
the right hand side of the block near the boundary, and 1 at the left rear of the block. It has
a slight slope from the front to the back, and is ideal for building as the photos show.
This block is on a good metalled road, 150
metres from a sealed road and has several new neighbours.
